Our pottery studio’s story began in the most unexpected of places: our kitchen. Before we had the dedicated space we have today, the chaos of clay and creativity was (not) contained to our humble kitchen counter.
It all started during lockdown, when I (Nikki) impulsively bought a massive old Alsager wheel off eBay. Where better to set up a makeshift pottery studio than the kitchen? Well, it was a bit more complicated than that—the wheel was so big, it couldn’t even fit through the door! But, whether it was the 'stuck-at-home' feeling or the magnetic pull of clay, what started as a simple hobby quickly became something more. Amid pulling pots and peeling potatoes, our love for pottery was born.
I’ll admit, I knew absolutely nothing about clay back then—not even its therapeutic magic. But soon enough, we were all hooked. Clay has a way of bringing out a nurturing instinct: you’re constantly checking if it’s too wet, too dry, or just right. Throwing teaches patience and focus, while cleaning up becomes a peaceful ritual. It invites you into a whole different headspace, where you can lose yourself in the rhythm and let your thoughts drift away.
As the world returned to something like 'normal' after the pandemic, our passion for pottery stayed strong.
Fast forward three years, and our little kitchen chaos has transformed into a fully equipped studio. We now have six potter’s wheels, kilns, a hand extruder, slab rollers, and enough tools and glazes to satisfy every project. While we offer a variety of clay experiences, our focus is on throwing—helping you connect with the wheel, shape the clay, and watch something magical unfold.
Alongside me is my daughter Zoe, a talented artist who, after completing her MA at The Royal Drawing School, is now preparing for her debut solo show at Christie’s in London. You can check her stuff out here.
And now, we invite you to join us. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your throwing skills, welcome to the world of clay. Your pottery adventure begins here.
