learn to pot
Seeing that there are only 6 spaces in each class, we like to tailor the 8-week course to suit your individual goals and help you on a 1-1 level. The courses are often throwing-based on the pottery wheel (with everyone having a wheel each) and with an emphasis on how to glaze, but we do teach slabbing techniques and coil pots. The courses welcome people of all stages and we can cater to more experienced individuals. Course are strictly adult only, 18+ years.
8 week courses are £345
Currently, the studio is reaching full capacity with its independent, ‘Free Wheeling’ community, therefore, the number of courses offered have been reduced at this time. We have a Wednesday evening course starting in September, and may consider a new Sunday morning course in the new year.

important information

We recognise that from time to time, you might miss a class in the course. We are not able to refund missed classes, however we do our best to make the time back to you.
You can make up the time for 1 missed session in your pottery course. Most often, this would be during the week as the weekends are our busiest times and we do not want weekends being full of make up classes.
It’s just the time, there’s no tuition
This can be done in weekday independent practice only, NOT weekend sessions *
Missed classes being made up must be redeemed within 2 months of finishing the course (spaces subject to availability)
Please email us to book you in. Unfortunately, if these conditions are not met, the time will have been lost.
*Our dream is to build a clay community, and this is growing with our regular weekend potters. Something that we would love you to join when you finish the course!

An 8 week course includes 8 x 2.5 hour sessions of tuition and facilities. We are a big believer in making, making, making to develop skills - therefore you are welcome to use as much clay as you wish. However, we do charge a small fee for the cost of materials and firing. This is calculated by the pieces weight in grams, and then multiplied by 0.006.
Finished pieces will be weighed and logged every week, final payment for the clay will be due on the final session in week 8. We take cash or card.

Inevitable, from time to time, pieces will break. A weak join might crack in the kiln, a damp air pocket might blow in the firings, glazes might run off the pot onto the kiln shelf.
Whilst we do our best to mitigate these possibilies (and on the whole, do - tap wood!), sometimes things break.
We cannot take responsibility for any damage to pieces (unless in an exceptional circumstance, it is an error on our part). If clay has been fired and then broken, we cannot provide refunds as the clay has already been fired and glazes used - meaning we cannot reclaim the materials.
You can however, add your pot to our ‘Tree of life’, or have a cracking smash!

As you will learn in a pottery course, things take time in clay. We try our best to bisque and glaze all your pieces within the confines of the course, made possible by the two kilns.
However, it might be that by the end of your course, only some of your pieces have been bisqued and are ready to glaze. Therefore, so you have the experience of glazing, you will be shown how to glaze. Any outstanding pieces will be glazed by us in a single colour of your choice.
Should you wish to glaze your pieces yourself, you will need to buy an independent session where you can finish your pieces yourself. If you are rolling over onto another courses, you can glaze these in your next course.

Time and time again, you will hear us say It’s the hours on the wheel! which lead to the successes in clay. Therefore, we often find that people stay with us for a few months and do repeated courses.
We prioritise current clients when organising the next set of courses. We do so by offering current potters enrolled on courses an early-bird opportunity to book onto the next course, before offering the mailing list and then published online. We do not reserve spaces, so it is a first come, first serve basis when it comes to booking onto a course.
